Clockwise (Qatar 2010)
FEATURE FILM
COMPOSER, March 2010 – June 2010 (4 months)
In early December 2009 Maciek was hired to write almost 60 minutes of original music for the first movie in the history of Qatar. The story of ‘Clockwise’, taken from a legend told by the residents of the Gulf a long time ago, revolves around a Qatari named Saad Ben Khalaf, “a singer and a drummer” who sells old watches in Souk Wakef in the center of Doha.
The score is written for string orchestra and soloists. it combines the western film music genre with ethnic performances. Since the traditional arabic Fijiri songs play a major role in the narrative of the movie, one of the most challenging cues to write was the Fijiri underscore. The score for the movie was very well received at ‘Clockwise’ screening in October 2010 in Doha, Qatar.
